J. Marie Suga, MDAs an oncologist at Kaiser Permanente Vallejo Medical Center in California, Dr. J. Marie Suga serves as the medical director for the Kaiser Permanente Clinical Trials Program. She specializes in treating patients with lung cancer, breast cancer, colorectal cancer and malignant pleural mesothelioma.

Michael ColeDiagnosed with pleural mesothelioma in 2015, Michael Cole opted for aggressive treatment. Initially, he underwent an extrapleural pneumonectomy and several rounds of chemotherapy. After a recurrence in 2018, he opted for immunotherapy and radiation. Since then, he has had only slow tumor changes and no new growth.

Randy DerouenRandy Derouen was diagnosed with peritoneal mesothelioma in 2020. Because he was ineligible for surgery, Randy underwent months of chemotherapy, including heated intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC), and immunotherapy (Opdivo and Yervoy). For the last year, his PET scans have shown no evidence of growth.

Ron GreenSince his 2016 pleural mesothelioma diagnosis, Ron Green participated in two clinical trials utilizing immunotherapies such as Keytruda (pembrolizumab) and anetumab ravtansine. Both worked well for him! For the last two years, he has been on the FDA-approved immunotherapy combination of Opdivo and Yervoy.

Sean Marchese, MS, RNSean Marchese, MS, RN, has planned and led oncology clinical trials involving immunotherapy, chemotherapy, radiation therapy and tumor treating fields. He is a registered nurse with more than 10 years of clinical experience and more than six years of clinical research. Sean has been a member of the American Nurses Association since 2017.
