Get to Know Dr. Logan Roof
Dr. Logan N. Roof’s expertise is in the treatment of thoracic malignancies. She has a focus in treating mesothelioma, lung cancer and thymic cancers. Her mesothelioma specialty lies in treating patients with the pleural form of the disease that develops in the thoracic cavity.
She serves as a medical oncologist and assistant professor in thoracic medical oncology at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center. Dr. Roof’s research interests are focused on advancing care for people with mesothelioma.
As part of her research work, she’s studying ways to improve immunotherapy and targeted therapy techniques. Her research is also helping to expand access to lung cancer screenings.
Dr. Roof’s interests also extend into making a difference in health care disparities. Her research on lung cancer found differences in outcomes, including survival, among several groups. “The rate of mortality for men has been declining, but then for women it looks like it may have been increasing,” Dr. Roof shared with Oncology Specialty Group in 2023.
Her community health outreach initiatives aim to improve access to high-quality care. Dr. Roof is also engaged in efforts to expand telehealth platforms and access to care for people living in rural areas.
She received her medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina College of Medicine. Dr. Roof is a member of several prestigious medical organizations, including the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer.
