About Vanessa
Vanessa Blanco has served mesothelioma patients as a Patient Advocate at The Mesothelioma Center since 2010. She has master’s and bachelor’s degrees in health service administration from the University of Central Florida.
She is a certified oncology patient navigator through the Academy of Oncology Nurse & Patient Navigators. An oncology patient navigator guides patients through treatment, insurance coverage, financial support, transportation and scheduling. She uses her training to improve cancer care coordination for mesothelioma patients, supporting families at every step.
Vanessa helps families find a variety of ways to lower the cost of treatment and other expenses. She researches options for financial aid, treatment grants, transportation assistance and more. Vanessa also connects patients with supportive services, including complementary therapies, emotional support and caregiver services.
She personally understands the challenges families face, having supported her family through a cancer diagnosis. She has joined family members at chemotherapy appointments and at medical appointments to discuss treatment.
